Teaching

Colleen Griggs is excited to be on board as a faculty member at New Music School. Her goal as an instructor is to help students build confidence by finding their musical voice on the clarinet. Mrs. Griggs’s students build a solid foundation in scale study, tone production, and musical expression. Students utilize celebrated method, etude books, and standard solo and ensemble repertoire at every level of study. Whether students go on to pursue a professional career in music, or simply choose to fine-tune their skills on the clarinet for their own enjoyment, they will be challenged to perform at their highest level and to create music in which they can take pride.

Mrs. Griggs studied at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Clarinet Performance. In addition to her studies at Roosevelt University, she has attended the Aspen Music Festival and School.

Mrs. Griggs has been a faculty member at New Music School since 2009.
