Emily Fischer

NMS Violin Faculty

Emily Fischer is an accomplished violinist and educator with a master’s degree in Violin Performance with a concentration on String Pedagogy from the University of Louisville (2024). Under the esteemed mentorship of Dr. Geoffrey Herd, Emily served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, where she provided private instruction, led String Methods classes, and coached ensembles within the university’s prestigious String Academy program.

A native of Elgin, Illinois, Emily’s journey with the violin began at the tender age of 3 under the guidance of Lamar Blum, a distinguished violinist and direct protégé of Shinichi Suzuki. Immersed in the Suzuki method from the start, Emily’s completion of the program laid the foundation for her subsequent certification as a Suzuki instructor in units 1-10. Her musical talent was recognized through concerto competition victories during her early studies and at Augustana College.

Emily currently serves on the violin faculty of the New Music School’s conservatory program in Chicago. Her students benefit not only from her extensive knowledge but also from her active involvement in the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). Emily has led sectionals for the Suzuki Youth Symphony Orchestra at the 2024 SAA/ASTA conference and has contributed significantly to Suzuki workshops at the University of Louisville in 2022 to 2023.
